Objective
Food delivery containers make up appoximately a third of the plastic waste that makes it into our ocean. In a world where waste systems cannot keep up - how can we reduce the waste that is being created?
Concept
This design reduces plastic waste in the food industry through a simple, three-step system:

Reusable Lunchboxes: Customers can choose reusable lunchboxes for their meals at participating cafes for a small upfront cost.

Easy Returns: Used lunchboxes are returned to collection bins unlocked via phone or QR code.

Rewards Program: Customers earn rewards through an app that helps locate participating cafes.
Return System
Return kiosks are located around the city. Kiosks alert the Akirea system when they are full. Boxes are retrieved, taken to an industrial cleaning facility, and then redistributed to cafes
